Dakar’s longest day and X Rally finishing well
No one is safe in the Dakar. Every now and then there is someone facing problems in the way. X Rally Team duos learned that lesson this Sunday on day seven of competition – the longest one, of 810 kilometers between Arequipa and San Juan de Marcona.
In the 310-km stage, both Marcos Baumgart/Kleber Cicea and Cristian Baumgart/Beco Andreotti had to stop their UTVs some times to fix every sort of issue: tyres, belts, bogging, rolling... With perserverance, both duos did an excellent job to finish the day in 11th (Cristian/Beco) and 13th (Marcos/Kleber), to keep themselves inside the general standings top-10 – ninth for Marcos and 10th for Cristian.
“We faced the highest dunes of this Dakar so far. It was a very difficult stage and we can be very proud to have finished today. Definately, it was not easy at all!”, said Marcos. “Today it was a joy and relief to get to the bivouac and get reunited with the whole team!”, Cristian highlighted.
This Monday, the teams stay in San Juan de Marcona for the first of the two loop stages. Competitors will take 64 kilometers of liaisons and will race against the clock for 323 kilometers.
