Leaders to face freezing weather in Southern Brazil

Líderes, Marcos Baumgart e Kleber Cincea encaram o frio de SC em mais uma etapa do Brasileiro

The fifth of eight rounds of the Brazilian Cross Country Championship is on this weekend in Santa Catarina, Southern Brazil. The Caminhos da Neve Rally (paths to the snow, in Portuguese) will make drivers, co-drivers and riders face temperatures below zero, in the only region of the country that snows this time of the year.

For the overal leaders Marcos Baumgart and Kleber Cincea, from X Rally Team, it is another challenge. “Looks like an European round”, jokes Baumgart, who recently crossed America from West to East in a bike, riding 5,000 kilometers in 12 days. “It will cool us down a little bit before the warm storm that the Sertões is. The main ideia is to put on some good pace. We are all prepared for this conditions”, says the driver of the X Rally Ranger.

There will be 300 kilometers to be driven on through the three-day competition, going by the cities located in the mountains: Urupema, Painel, Urubici and Bom Jardim da Serra. It is the last round of the championship before the Sertões, which starts on August 24th.

According to the local weather forecast, temperatures will oscilate between -6 and 8 degrees Celsius.
