Rest day in the Dakar. And a lot of work to do

Trabalho e descanso rumo ao dia mais longo

Traditionally, the Dakar provides a rest day without competition marking the end of the first half of the rally. It is what happened this Saturday in Arequipa, after the competitors faced the marathon stage on Friday. X Rally Team duos overcame the difficulties to get excellent results: Cristian Baumgart and Beco Andreotti finished the stage 5 in fourth position and are now ninth overall; Marcos Baumgart and Kleber Cincea finished the day in 12th, and are in seventh in the standings.

“For the team, who spent all nights working, it was a well-deserved day to rest. Now they start working on our equipment, disassembling everything, changing what is possibile, and then assembling everyting back to get the UTVs like brand new”, highlights Cristian.

“The team is doing a great job and it was warming to see them like new when we arrived. It gives us a boost to keep going”, says Marcos.

After the rest day, the competitors will face the longest day of this Dakar edition. There will be 810 kilometers from Arequipa to San Juan de Marcona, with a 309-km stage.
