Three-time Sertoes champion celebrates birthday with victory at Velocittà

Tricampeão comemora aniversário com vitória no Velocittà

The first kilometers of Sertões 2020 towards Barreirinhas (MA) started to be covered today (30). In the nearly 5 km played at the Velocittà complex, in Mogi Guaçu (SP), the X Rally Team started by winning the prologue and placing two more cars in the top-5. These first kilometers defined the starting order for the first stage, which will be disputed this Saturday (31). The duo Cristian Baumgart/Beco Andreotti was the fastest among the cars, completing the passage in 4 minutes and 13 seconds aboard the Overdrive-built Toyota Hilux. Marcos Baumgart and Kleber Cincea, which also compete with the Belgian bolide got the fourth place. Sylvio de Barros and Rafael Capoani made up to fifth place with the NWM Ranger.

What caught the attention of the competitors in todays special was the surface. For Sertões three-time champion of Sertões Cristian Baumgart, the tires made all the difference in the timed stretch. “The route was very slippery, very different from the recognition we did yesterday, but the BFGoodrich tires did the job”, said Cristian. “It is always great to race here at Velocittà, I hope this will be repeated in the coming years, the reception here is always very good”, highlights the eldest of the Baumgart brothers, who turned 46 this Friday.

Marcos Baumgart set the fourth fastest time of the day and fulfilled the goal set by him and Kleber Cincea. “We were already thinking about starting third or fourth, so we can say that Sertões started well. We did the recognition yesterday and the floor changed a lot, it was very slippery and that is part of the game. Tomorrow is another day, ”said Marcos Baumgart.

Completing the X Rally Team lineup, Mauro Guedes/Filipe Bianchini (X Rally Ranger) took the 13th time, Fernando Rosset/Marcelo Haseyama (X Rally Ranger) in 15th and Pedro Prado/Patrick Prado (Mitsubishi Triton X10) in 18th.

This Saturday the Sertões caravan leaves the ‘bubble’ at the Velocittà towards Brasília (DF). There will be 260km of initial displacement, 205km of timed stretch and another 585km of final displacement. The requirement for such a long day will give competitors a break on Sunday (11/01), giving calm and tranquility for all teams to arrive safely in the federal capital.
